Idea Verona was established in 1998 as the first school in Verona to specialize in teaching Italian language and culture to foreigners. The school is situated right in the centre of the city, close to the Medieval Castle and only a few meters away from the famous Piazza Brà and the Arena. The position, while very central, gives IDEA VERONA and its students the opportunity to work and study in a peaceful environment ideal for the purposes of concentration. Idea Verona is located in a newly renovated independent building inside a private high school called “Istituto Salesiano Don Bosco”.  It is equipped with comfortable and smart classrooms, a music room with a piano and a student room provided with PCs and free access to the Internet. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning and the building overlooks an inner garden.

In 2004, Idea Verona obtained the certification ISO 9001/2000, an international certificate of quality recognized all around the world and awarded only to institutions offering the highest standards of structure and service.

Verona is well served by an international airport and is a crossroad for rail and road travel. Verona Catullo Villafranca Airport is serviced directly by British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France, and also linked to Milan and Rome with Alitalia and Meridiana. If arriving in Milan or Venice, there is also a good bus connection from the airport to central train station (Milano Centrale, Venezia Mestre). There are a good number of trains during the day leaving from Milan and Venice for Verona (every hour) and it takes about 1 hour and half. In other words, Verona is located in a perfect position in the European panorama and can be easily reached from every direction.

Our courses are taught at all levels by native Italian speakers, university graduates who are specially qualified to teach Italian language and culture. Our methods utilize "full immersion" procedure, which encourage our students' active and committed participation in the language program. Courses begin every four weeks all year long and generally last four weeks, but consecutive participation in more than one course is possible and encouraged. We also offer courses for 1, 2 or 3 weeks; these courses begin the same day as 4-week course. Classes have a maximum of 12 students. For special groups, specific dates can also be arranged.

On the first day of each course, our students are asked to take an entry test in order to form appropriate class groups according to their knowledge of Italian language.

In addition to the morning language courses, Idea Verona offers a wide variety of other courses (supplementary courses) and workshops in cultural, artistic, and traditional crafts. These activities are conducted in the afternoons and provide for special interests such as Commercial Italian, Italian Literature, Art, Music and Opera.

Courses in regional cuisine and wines are also available. Italian art history lessons are developed additionally through excursions, which are attended by an art teacher. The art workshops are held for fresco, watercolour, and oil painting.

Furthermore, besides courses in Italian music and opera, Idea Verona regularly organizes recreational activities for students in attendance, such as evenings at concerts or at the opera.

Also various guided tours are conducted for them to places in nearby Venice, Vicenza, Padua, Mantua or Trento, or to the Lake Garda area.

Our school offer a special opera course, called Il Bel Canto, which focuses on the correct pronunciation and intonation of operatic lyrics. Lessons are held under the supervision of Maestro Fabio Fapanni, Assistant Artistic Director of the  FONDAZIONE ARENA DI VERONA, and his musical team together with the teaching staff of IDEA VERONA. Our Opera course begins with an initial entrance test, which allows our students to be placed at their appropriate level of instruction. Morning classes consist of language and conversation, while afternoon classes focus on singing and diction with coaching lessons given by qualified maestros. Our aim is to give our students the ability to understand, speak, read, write, and sing in the Italian language. During the course, students will have the opportunity to attend opera performances at the Arena. Idea Verona makes the arrangement for bookings and students pay for the tickets.

Idea Verona also provides a cost-free booking service for students seeking accommodation in Verona. The school does not possess accommodation to provide to students. Therefore pricing is done on a by case basis according to the needs of each individual student and space availability at the time. The placements are located in: host family homes, furnished apartments, residence or hotels. The price varies according to the type and length of the stay and housing is assigned in order of enrolment.
