The Region & The City
The Abruzzo
Region is known for its greenery all over Europe, as it holds the name “Regione
Verde d’Europa”. Thanks to all the parks and protected areas that surround about
one third of its territory, one can indulge this unique nature all year.
Abruzzo is rich
of sandy beaches that cover almost 120 kilometres, hillside sceneries that also
compliment adored and cultivated grape wines, olive trees, medieval towns and
lakes. Moreover, one must take time to discover the mountainous panorama of the
Gran Sasso, the Maiella and the Sirente-Velino, these breathtaking and
picturesque ambient can be explored all year always leaving the tourist in awe.
Accompanying
Abruzzo’s authentic nature are the traditional dishes that, once again, reflect
the richness of the region’s natural resources.
By delving into
the strong aromas and flavours of the cuisine, one can only savour what the
region offers through their local agriculture and seafood.
Furthermore,
Pescara, the most important economic centre of Abruzzo, lies on the coast of the
Adriatic. Being modern, dynamic and entertaining, this seaside city is embraced
by thin sand and scattered pubs, cafés and restaurants. In the summer months,
for the young and older crowds, the sleepless beach front strip, invites endless
night-entertainment even until the early hours of the morning.
It’s only 250
kms. from Rome and 300 kms. from Naples. These destinations are easiest reached
by bus.
The Pescara
Airport offers many comfortable and convenient flights to such places as Milan,
Sardegna, London, Francoforte and other major European cities.
To reach the Croation Coast and
the Tremiti Islands there are ferry and boat services that accommodate tourists
just as well.
